Absent Author

Well, I did that thing once again where I forget that I have a blog and then don't post to it for months after just promising myself and my void-readers that I'll post more.  I really should just write out my thoughts more and backlog them to have a more consistent post schedule, but the only one I'd be doing that for would be myself, really, and I just can't get motivated a lot of the time to do things purely for myself or my own improvement.  If something doesn't benefit someone else in some way, being a gift or positive blessing, or improve my friend's or family's lives in some way, then I will be much less motivated to proceed with it.  The purpose of this blog was never to inspire others, or provide meaningful or useful information - it is simply the incoherent ramblings of a young adult man trying his best to exist in this chaotic world.

That being said, I've been rather selfish for the past month or so, writing or sketching character ideas every single day.  I'm getting a lot of enjoyment out of this process, and I hope to keep up my interest and enthusiasm regarding character design and worldbuilding.  Not only will this be a good way for me to feel productive and release some of my creative energy, but also it'll help with one of my life goals of becoming a beloved author.  I used to want to be a famous, rich, best-selling author, but I realized over time that what I truly want is just a small group of people who have read my writing and been impacted positively in some way because of it.  Even if it can never be a career or a way to financially support myself, I do still truly want to pursue writing for my own pleasure as well as for the entertainment of others.  From inspiring them to giving them hope, to just distracting them from a busy work week, I'd love to positively influence people through my writing.

I feel inspired to keep drawing and working on my characters.  I hope to keep up this inspiration.
Matt.
